These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Lode Light Guides website (lodelightguides.com), including all content, digital products, free resources, and community participation offered through this site.

Lode Light Guides is a brand of Common Sense Goods Inc., a corporation incorporated in Alberta, Canada ("we," "us," or "our").

By visiting this website, downloading any resource, or purchasing any product, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use this website.

2. About our content and products

Lode Light Guides produces practical guidebooks, checklists, and educational resources to help people navigate major life transitions, with a current focus on loss of a parent.

2.1 — Not professional advice

Everything on this website and in our products is for informational and educational purposes only. Nothing on this website, in any downloadable resource, in any email communication, or in any community space constitutes or should be construed as:

3.1 — What you are purchasing

When you purchase a digital product from Lode Light Guides you are purchasing a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use that product for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.

Digital products include but are not limited to:

  • PDF guidebooks and workbooks
  • Downloadable checklists and templates
  • Any future digital products offered on this site

3.2 — Delivery

Digital products are delivered electronically following purchase. Delivery is typically immediate or within a short time of purchase via a download link sent to the email address you provided at checkout. It is your responsibility to provide an accurate email address.

If you do not receive your download link within 24 hours of purchase, contact us at legal@lodelightguides.com and we will resolve it promptly.

3.3 — Refund policy

Because our products are digital downloads, we handle refund requests on a case-by-case basis at our discretion. We want every customer to feel good about their purchase. If you are unsatisfied with a product for any reason, please contact us at legal@lodelightguides.com and describe your concern. We will work with you to find a fair resolution, which may include a full or partial refund.

We are under no obligation to issue refunds in cases where:

  • The product has been downloaded and the content reviewed
  • The request is made more than 30 days after purchase
  • The dissatisfaction relates to the general topic area rather than a specific product deficiency

We reserve the right to decline refund requests that appear to be made in bad faith.

3.4 — Prohibited uses

You may not:

  • Reproduce or republish our content in any format without written permission

4.1 — Lead magnets and free downloads

Free resources such as our checklist guides are provided at no charge in exchange for your email address. By downloading a free resource you agree to receive email communications from Lode Light Guides. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.

The same "not professional advice" disclaimer in Section 2.1 applies fully to all free resources.

4.2 — Email communications

By joining our email list you can expect to receive practical resources, guidance, and occasional product updates from Lode Light Guides. We send no more than 2–3 emails per month. You may unsubscribe at any time. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle your data.

5. Facebook community

Lode Light Guides operates a Facebook community group. Participation in the community is subject to both these Terms and Facebook's own Terms of Service and Community Standards.

5.1 — Community conduct

By participating in our community you agree to:

  • Treat all members with respect, compassion, and kindness
  • Refrain from sharing professional advice, including legal, financial, or medical guidance
  • Not promote, advertise, or solicit other products or services without our written permission
  • Not share content that is harmful, offensive, discriminatory, or harassing
  • Respect the privacy of other community members — do not share or republish others' posts without permission

5.2 — Community moderation

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these community standards and to remove any member from the community at our discretion and without notice.

5.3 — Community content and privacy

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.

9.2 — Jurisdiction

For users located in the United States, you agree that any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Alberta, Canada, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in that forum. Nothing in this section limits your rights under applicable consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction.

9.3 — Informal resolution first

Before initiating any formal legal proceeding, you agree to contact us at legal@lodelightguides.com and give us a reasonable opportunity — at least 30 days — to resolve the dispute informally. We will make a genuine effort to do the same.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will:

  • Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
  • Post a notice on the website for a reasonable period

Continued use of the website after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes acceptance of the changes. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

11. Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Common Sense Goods Inc. with respect to your use of this website and our products.
